Junior Science World was founded by Dr. Brian Kinghorn who received his PhD in Educational Psychology & Educational Technology from Michigan State University and is currently an Assistant Professor at Marshall University.

Since 2002, Dr. Kinghorn has been a teacher/presenter and trainer of extra-curricular science programs and science assemblies. He has presented week-long science camps and other science education programs throughout the United States and Hong Kong and at over 25 United States Air Force bases.

With his extensive experience in extracurricular science education and the help of an Entrepreneurial Faculty for the 21st Century University (EF21U) Fellowship at Michigan State University, Dr. Kinghorn founded Junior Science World in the Spring of 2009.

As a graduate student at MSU, Dr. Kinghorn taught Educational Psychology and Elementary Science Methods courses and participated in a four-year National Science Foundation(NSF) funded nationwide research project focusing on the needs of early-career secondary science and mathematics teachers. His graduate program emphasis focused on developing a better understanding of learning through teaching and then using that knowledge to help K-8 teachers become better teachers and learners of science. Later, he developed and taught an elementary science methods course at the Robert B. Miller College  and conducted teacher professional development throughout Michigan for the Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center. He then spent two years as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Brigham Young University-Hawaii before accepting his current appointment as an Assistant Professor of Curriculum, Instruction, and Foundations at Marshall University.
